Eye Shadow Color

When it comes to choosing eye makeup colors, the classic rule is to select colors which are complementary to the eye color (colors opposite of each other on the color wheel). For example, the complement of blue is orange so in theory blue eyes are best defined by peach and bronze shades. Matching your eyeshadow to your eye color could seem like a good idea, but it doesn't work like you’d think. If you use a shadow similar to your eye color your eyes can get lost and muted. Go for contrast instead and it will make your eyes pop!

Blue Eyes look good in: bronze, brown, taupe, peach, and copper shades.

Green Eyes look good in: brown, plum, mauve, taupe, and red shades.

Brown Eyes look good in: blue, gray, purple, green, and pink shades

• Hazel Eyes look good in: pinks, purples, golds, blacks, and neutral brown shades.

Try it out and see what you think!!

Remember that the best eyeshadow for your eyes also depends on your exact skin tone. If you have a yellow tint to your flesh, you should probably stay away from any hues with heavy amounts of yellow. If you tend to appear flushed, then obviously you want to stay away from rosy or red-based hues.
